Letrozole
Letrozole
Description
Letrozole, which is an aromatase inhibitor, has some uses in bodybuilding, although it is not intended for doping purposes and is only used under medical supervision. The following is a brief description of the substance and its characteristics, with particular emphasis on its use in bodybuilding:
Mechanism of action: letrozole inhibits the enzyme aromatase, which converts androgens (such as testosterone) into estrogens. As a result of this action, estrogen levels in the body are reduced.
Bodybuilding use: Letrozole is sometimes used in bodybuilding to control estrogen levels. During a steroid cycle, especially when testosterone boosters are used, aromatization – the conversion of testosterone into estrogen – can increase. This phenomenon can lead to estrogen-related side effects, such as gynecomastia (development of glandular breast tissue), water retention or increased blood pressure.
Estrogen control: Letrozole can help control estrogen levels, minimizing the side effects associated with excess of these hormones during a steroid cycle.
Dosage in bodybuilding: Dosages of letrozole in bodybuilding are usually lower than those used to treat breast cancer. It is used to maintain hormonal balance.
